As the first few weeks of 2012 have rolled along, we have been keeping busy in the home studio writing material for what will eventually shape into our next album. So far the new songs are all pretty different from previous recordings. New textures, subject matter, and feels are coming out of these sessions and we’re as curious as anyone as to where this will all lead.
In the meantime, we find ourselves hitting the road again this week starting at Frederick, MD’s Cafe Nola (1/25/12), routing out to Chicago’s Schuba’s (1/29/12) and eventually landing back at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall (2/4/12). Our winter dates end with a couple of shows with our new friends Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds at New York’s Bowery Ballroom (3/1/12) and Philadelphia’s World Cafe Live (3/3/12). After these shows we will head back into the studio and get back to recording our follow up to last year’s Flawed Logic and hopefully get it out to you all sometime in the fall
After an amazing 2011, American Babies are excited to get back to work and back on the road. Upcoming dates in January and February will take us out to Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont. Spring saw some fun things for Tommy and the Babies; the release of the WEIGHT OF THE WORLD EP with an amazing party in our hometown, a few solo-acoustic performances, and some inspired playing as we bring our new EP to the stage.
This summer we’re gonna keep it going with a slew of shows in the North East. Highlights include a co-headlining run with our West Coast buddies Big Light, support slots for Tea Leaf Green, and Umphrey’s McGee, and a Rocks Off Boat Cruise around NYC.
